CAH offering Additional Staff and Expanded Services in their Rehabilitation Department
Carlinville Area Hospital’s Rehabilitation Department wishes you a Happy New Year. We have additional staff and expanded services to better serve the therapy needs of our community. We now provide comprehensive therapy services: Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapy and our licensed therapy team has combined experience of over 110 years. Our therapists evaluate and treat both inpatients and outpatients through the Carlinville Area Hospital system. Two staff have recently joined the therapy department: Carol Thompson, Physical Therapy Assistant, of Gillespie and Tanya Kessinger, Occupational Therapist, of Carlinville. Thompson has particular interest in massage and acute neurological and orthopedic conditions and Kessinger has interests in neurological conditions, hands and rehabilitation of pediatrics to geriatrics. Both practitioners are treating inpatients and outpatients at Carlinville Area Hospital.
If you or your loved one is recovering from surgery, stroke, fracture or an extended medical illness and hospitalization, our “Swing Bed” program can help. Whether you were hospitalized in Carlinville, Springfield, St. Louis or elsewhere, you can choose to rehabilitate right here at your local Carlinville Area Hospital. Our inpatient Swing Bed program will get you onto your feet and back into the “Swing” of things. Our therapy team will help you regain your independence by restoring strength and balance, training in adaptive equipment or compensatory strategies, establishing a custom exercise program, teaching alternative ways to do daily tasks and developing a home program so you can continue to be strong and active once your are back home. Our purpose is to work with you to achieve your goal of returning home.
Our outpatient therapy team provides treatment for orthopedic and neurological conditions, sports injuries, back and neck problems, pediatrics, early intervention, pain syndromes and hand injuries, to name a few. For specific needs, we also offer Aquatic therapy. The outpatient clinic opened September of 2005 and is located at 912 Morgan Street which is across from the FitClub. Our hours are flexible so we can best meet your therapy needs.
