Carlinville Area Hospital would like to recognize our Housekeeping and Infection Prevention Staff for recent infection prevention and patient safety improvements. This winter, Carlinville Area Hospital partnered with Aramark to upgrade our traditional cleaning cloths to microfiber cleaning cloths. Microfiber will assist in removing dirt and germs from surfaces more effectively than traditional cleaning cloths. Also this winter, we replaced our traditional curtains with disposable ones. These curtains are replaced frequently to decrease the risk of germs spreading from their surfaces.
The housekeeping staff is also being recognized for the excellent job they do in cleaning our patient rooms and the facility. Carlinville Area Hospital now uses ATP testing to benchmark cleaning effectiveness. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) testing, tests clean room surfaces for remaining contamination. In our most recent testing, only 4% of our surfaces tested positive for remaining contamination. This was a very impressive score as the overall hospital average of other hospitals using this system is 66% remain contaminated. (William A.
