Sleep soundly.

Are you one of millions of Americans who suffers from a sleep disorder? An undiagnosed and untreated sleep disorder not only affects the quality of your life, but it also affects the lives of those around you. A sleeping disorder affects your everyday activities such as driving a vehicle or work performance. It can also be a health concern by increasing your risk for high blood pressure, stroke, or heart attack.

If you experience any of the following, you could benefit from having a sleep study performed.

  • Obesity
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Narcolepsy
  • Hypertension
  • Restless sleep
  • Nocturnal angina
  • Morning headaches
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness
  • Gasping or choking during sleep
  • Snoring or interrupted by pauses in breathing (sleep apnea)

Just like other illnesses, leaving these symptoms untreated can cause further health problems such as:

Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics offers a state-of-the-art Sleep Lab located in the Medical Office Building located at 20163 N. Broad St. Sleep studies performed at our Sleep Lab can help diagnose sleep disorders through tests that record and measure body functions such as heart rate, breathing rate, airflow, brain wave activity, eye, and muscle movement and blood oxygen level during sleep.

Sleep studies are available for pediatrics and adults in a comfortable, private room that provides a home-like setting.
Testing is available Monday through Friday. Special arrangements may be available for Saturdays and Sundays. All results are interpreted by a board-certified pulmonologist. Sleep studies are covered by most private insurers, as well as Medicare and Medicaid. Most studies can be performed within one to two weeks of scheduling the test.
