LCCC and CAH&C Partner in Local CNA Program

October 17, 2022, Carlinville, IL - October 8, 2022, Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics welcomed the first round of future Certified Nursing Assistants from Lewis & Clark Community College to begin their weekly clinicals. CAH&C is partnering with the LCCC Carlinville campus to offer a CNA program to Carlinville High School students and local high school graduates. At the end of this 6-week program, students will be eligible to test to become certified nursing assistants and enter the workforce.

“LCCC’s partnership with Carlinville Area Hospital & Clinics and Carlinville High School is valuable beyond the direct education provided. The newly extended CNA program structure to include local high school students provides an opportunity for the community to expand our workforce in order to provide quality healthcare for our rural and aging population; aligning with the mission and values of CAH&C. “ said Mallory Demuzio, CAH&C Clinical Educator. “Additionally, students have a chance to broaden their perspectives regarding the diversity of opportunities within the broader healthcare segment. As a whole, we are excited to see the impact it has on the community by integrating direct patient care into high school education.”

The Carlinville LCCC campus recently added a CNA classroom that allows lecture-based and simulation training. CAH&C contributed to this new classroom through the donation of a full-scale manikin, hospital bed, ambulatory equipment/assistive devices, blood pressure simulator arm, and many medical supply materials.
